My Possible Research Topics

  1. Sex education in schools: I am interested in this topic because it is important for teens to be educated about sex, whether they get the education from their parents and/or get it from a class in school. It is also interesting to debate whether it should be the parents' responsiblity or if it should be passed on to the teachers.
  2. Bilingual education: This topic is interesting to me because of the fact that we have so many Latino/a immigrants living here in Frederick County that don't speak English and are sending their non-English speaking children to the public schools. It is a topic very relevant to Frederick County Public Schools.
  3. Plastic surgey: This topic interests me because of the fact that it is something that is being done often here in the USA. Also because its intresting because there is so much debate as to whether or not it's "fake" or acceptable because apperances matter so much in the US.
  4. Making marijuana legal- Making marijuana legal is a very hot topic in the political world. It's a very interesting topic to me because of the fact that so many people have a problem with marijuana becoming legal when there is many benefits to it becoming legal.

Basically, all these topics intrest me a lot. If you could just post which topic you think I should choose and what direction you advise me to take it in that would be most appreciated :)

  1. I like your topin on bilingual education. I think it's important for children to grow up speaking two languages. My boy friend is from Puerto Rico so when he started the 2nd grade it was hard for him to make friends, because he didnt speak english.

  3. I agree with Jess, you should talk about your topic on bilingual education. I say this because you have had actual experience with growing up around people who don't speak english whether it's in stores, schools, or resturaunts. It is also an interesting topic that I would enjoy reading about :)

  4. I kind of like the plastic topic because you can talk about how people look on that person's appearance. People say they look for good personality but they also look a lot for their appearance

  5. out of all of your topics i strongly agree with topic two. As the years go by the english/spanish debate is getting more heated. I disagree that us in america should have to learn the language of another country. I work at a place that is out numbered by hispanics. I must say it is extremly faustrating and difficult communicating. I have nothing against hispanics, but i feel as if it is getting a little over board.

  6. Topic: Sex education in schools

Two Sides: It is the responsibility of the parents' not the teachers. There should be a class on sex education because the parents don't talk about it at home

My Angle: While I do agree that there should be sex education in school, it is the parents' responsibility to talk with them about sex.

  7. Hi Michelle,
Good topics. I like topic three - plastic surgery - best. It's unique and definitely a HUGE practice in our world today. An interesting angle is how far women will go to be perfect.

I also like the bilingual ed topic because it is relevant to our culture and area.

  8. I like the sex education, because there're are plenty of kids that still dont know the importants, and are sexually active. Also the schools who do teach sex education aren't really getting the point across.

  9. I like the number 3 the best. Lots of people are beautiful they way that they are and use plastic surgery to enhance that. One the other hand plastic surgery helps recunstruct patience who may had a deformity, or people who have been in tragic accidents that left severe damages. Its very controversial.
